Madonna Urges Pope Leo XIV to Visit Gaza: “There’s No Time Left”
Casal dels Infants – Global pop icon Madonna issued a heartfelt appeal on Monday to Pope Leo XIV, urging him to visit the Gaza Strip without delay. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), she implored the leader of the Catholic Church to “bring Your light to the children before it’s too late,” amid deadly Israeli attacks that have triggered severe hunger in the region.
“Holy Father, please go to Gaza… You are the only one among us who cannot be denied entry. There’s no time left,” Madonna wrote.
She emphasized that political measures alone are not enough to end the suffering, insisting that only moral awareness can spark real change.
Madonna’s plea coincided with the birthday of her son, Rocco. She said the best gift she could give him as a mother was to call on the world to do whatever it could to save the innocent children trapped in Gaza.

“I am not pointing fingers, blaming, or taking sides. Everyone is suffering. I’m simply trying to do whatever I can to prevent these children from starving to death,” she said.
The singer also urged her fans to donate to humanitarian organizations such as World Central Kitchen.
Warnings of a food crisis in Gaza are not new. A late July report from the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification described the “worst-case famine scenario” as already unfolding. Access to food, goods, and essential services has plummeted to unprecedented levels.
For months, international agencies and humanitarian groups have cautioned that Gaza faces critical levels of hunger, with a humanitarian catastrophe threatening millions of lives.
The Vatican has yet to issue an official response to Madonna’s appeal. Pope Leo XIV began his papacy in May as the first American-born pontiff. He has been outspoken about the crisis in Gaza.
Last week, during the Youth Jubilee Mass in Rome, he expressed solidarity with children suffering from Israeli attacks: “We stand with the youth of Gaza.”
His predecessor, the late Pope Francis, maintained daily contact with the Holy Family Church in Gaza City before his passing in April.
Since October 2023, Israeli assaults on Gaza have killed more than 61,500 people. The enclave’s infrastructure has been devastated, and famine is spreading. As of August 12, 2025, Gaza’s Health Ministry reported 227 hunger-related deaths, including 103 children.
International condemnation has intensified. The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant also faces charges for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity. Meanwhile, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) is hearing a genocide case against Israel.
For Madonna, this is not about politics, but humanity itself. “The children of the world belong to everyone,” she wrote. Her plea serves as a reminder that, even in the midst of geopolitical conflict, voices from outside the halls of power can ignite hope, and perhaps, open a path to saving lives.
