Flash Flood Tragedy in Texas: 15 Children Killed While Camping
Casal dels Infants – Heavy rainfall struck Texas, United States, on Friday (July 4), triggering a devastating flash flood along the Guadalupe River. The disaster claimed at least 51 lives, including 15 young girls who were participating in a summer camping activity.
According to reports, the sudden surge of water swept through the area, destroying the tents of campers at Camp Mystic, a Christian summer camp located by the riverbank in Kerr County. An additional 27 children remain missing since the tragic incident.
The river reportedly rose by 8 meters in just 45 minutes before dawn, leaving little time for victims to escape. The rapid flood also swept away homes, vehicles, and cut off access to several areas.

Eyewitnesses said they heard the roaring sound of the approaching flood from a distance. However, many campers and local residents had no chance to evacuate due to the suddenness and sheer volume of water.
Combined search teams are using helicopters, boats, and drones to scour the affected areas and rescue people stranded in trees and debris. Search efforts have become increasingly challenging as heavy rain continued to fall across the region on Saturday (July 5). Authorities have kept flash flood warnings in effect.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott pledged that all available resources would be deployed to find the missing victims. “We will find everyone,” he said firmly and optimistically.
The incident has left deep sorrow for the victims’ families and the local community. Parents of the missing children gathered at evacuation centers, anxiously waiting for news from rescue teams.
Authorities continue to urge residents to remain vigilant. Extreme weather is expected to persist in the coming days, with the potential for heavy rainfall and further flash floods in several areas of Texas.
