Israeli Airstrike Kills 8 Children Waiting for Aid in Gaza
Casal dels Infants – Eight children were reported killed in an Israeli airstrike outside a clinic in Deir el-Balah, Gaza Strip, on Thursday (July 10). The clinic was a humanitarian aid center where residents, including children, were lining up to receive nutritional supplements. According to Gaza’s Civil Defense, the total death toll from the incident has reached 66.
One of the victims was a one-year-old toddler who had just spoken his first word, according to UNICEF. His mother is reported to be in critical condition.
UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell strongly condemned the Israeli airstrike, calling it a deeply immoral act. “The killing of families seeking life-saving assistance is an immoral act,” she stated.
Project HOPE, a U.S.-based humanitarian organization, operated the clinic. According to the organization, the victims were waiting for treatment for malnutrition and other illnesses. Project HOPE reported 15 fatalities in the incident, including 10 children and two women.

Rabih Torbay, President and CEO of Project HOPE, called the attack a blatant violation of international humanitarian law.
Yousef Al-Aydi (30), a local resident, described the terrifying moment: “We heard the sound of a drone, then a loud explosion. The ground shook, and everything turned into blood and deafening screams.”
Another resident, Mohammed Abu Ouda (35), questioned the justification of the attack. “What did the children do wrong? I saw a mother hugging her child on the ground. Both of them were motionless. They died instantly,” he said.
The Israeli military claimed it had targeted a Hamas militant involved in the October 7, 2023 attacks. It expressed regret over civilian casualties and said the incident is currently under internal review.
Israeli forces launched additional airstrikes on the Al-Bureij refugee camp and Rafah, killing at least seven more civilians. UN data shows that Israeli attacks have killed over 600 Gaza residents near aid distribution sites since late May 2025, when Israel began partially reopening access to humanitarian aid.
The Israeli military has killed more than 57,700 Palestinians, mostly civilians, since the war began on October 7, 2023, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry, whose data is regarded as credible by the UN. Earlier, Hamas attacks in Israel killed 1,219 people, most of them civilians.
