BPBD Kobar: Kindergarten Students Learn Disaster Preparedness
Casal dels Infants – BPBD Kobar welcomed TK Negeri Pembina students on Friday, May 9, for disaster preparedness education activities. The visit was part of BPBD Kobar’s ongoing disaster education program aimed at fostering awareness and preparedness from an early age.
Syahruni, Head of BPBD Kobar, explained that they carefully designed the activities to suit the children’s age and level of understanding. They delivered disaster preparedness education through fun and engaging methods such as storytelling, educational games, and simple rescue simulations.
“By using playful approaches, we aim to instill basic disaster knowledge so that children will know what to do and won’t panic in emergency situations,” said Syahruni.

The children eagerly participated in a range of activities. They explored fire extinguishers, experienced earthquake simulations, and observed emergency vehicles and equipment up close.
These hands-on experiences let the children engage in real-life learning scenarios within a safe, supervised environment. They made the lessons more memorable and impactful.
Rabiatul, Principal of TK Negeri Pembina, expressed her appreciation for BPBD Kobar’s warm welcome and educational effort. “This is a valuable experience for the children. They learn while having fun and gain important knowledge that could be useful in the future,” she said.
BPBD Kobar believes that reducing disaster risk requires more than just developing physical infrastructure. They also focus on building awareness and knowledge within the community. As a result, the agency actively works to expand disaster education to various groups, including young children, students, and local residents.
Through this holistic approach, BPBD Kobar actively engages communities, conducts educational outreach, and promotes awareness to make the people of West Kotawaringin more resilient. They aim to better prepare the community to face potential disasters through continuous training, early preparedness programs, and inclusive participation.
